Citizen Science Association (CSA) Biennial Conference

Meet Camellia Sanford-Dolly at the Citizen Science Association (CSA) Biennial Conference in Raleigh, NC March 13th-March 17th.

Camellia will be presenting a poster, “Impacts of an Online Macroinvertebrates Observation & Identification Tool on Volunteers’ Accuracy & Confidence in Water Quality Biomonitoring & Training,” on Thursday, March 14th from 4:45-6:45PM in the RCC Ballroom. The poster describes findings from an NSF-funded project with co-authors, Marti Louw and Jessica Roberts from Carnegie Mellon University.

Camellia will also be giving a talk, “Turning Viewers Into Doers: The Role of Broadcast & Digital Media in Empowering Individuals to Engage With Citizen Science,” in the session, “Evaluation (Motivation & Engagement)” on Saturday, March 16th from 1:30 to 3:00PM in RCC 402.

Fatima Carson from Rockman et al is a non-presenting co-author.

AISL PI Meeting

Meet Camellia Sanford-Dolly February 11th-13th at the AISL PI Meeting in Alexandria, VA. Camellia will be representing a number of AISL projects, and is looking forward to connecting with current and future clients.

The Association for Science Teacher Education (ASTE)

Dr. Kristin Bass is a co-author on two presentations at The ASTE Conference with the Genetic Science Learning Center: “Results From a Randomized Controlled Trial of an NGSS-Aligned High School Unit That Integrates Evolution and Heredity” and “High School Teachers’ Considerations, Benefits and Challenges in Classroom Pilot Testing 3d Curriculum Materials.”

The conference will be in Savannah, GA on January 3rd through the 5th of 2019.

Meet REA at Visitor Studies Association Annual Meeting

Jennifer Borland, Scott Burg, Claire Quimby, Saul Rockman, and Camellia Sanford-Dolly will be at the Visitor Studies Association’s Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL from July 19 to 21. If you are planning to attend, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Scott will be presenting in a session titled “Evaluation of Design Thinking in Museum Settings” on July 19 from 10:45 a.m. to noon. Jennifer will be co-presenting in a session titled “Talking About Teens: Evaluating Museum Programs that Target Teens” with Alison Mroczkowski and Preeti Gupta, on July 20 from 1:45 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Camellia will be presenting a poster titled “Features of Museum Outreach Activities That Can Support Children’s Interest in and Understanding of Scientific Practices and Careers” on July 19 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Camellia currently serves as VSA’s Vice President, Professional Development.
