Meet Us in November and December

Alison Allen will be attending the NSF Innovative Technologies Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) 2022 PI meeting from November 1st to 3rd. This gathering is by invite only.

Nissa Kirtman and Scott Burg will be attending the American Evaluation Association‘s (AEA) annual conference at the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans, LA from November 7th-12th. Nisaa and Scott will be presenting a poster “Proposal Development with Intention: Culturally-Responsive & Equitable Evaluation (CREE) and their Role in Strengthening Collaborative Evaluator and Stakeholder Partnerships” with partners Mehri Fadavi (Jackson State University), Jo Anne Fordham (Jackson State University), Michelle Wick (Smith College), Julie Brigham-Grette (University of Massachusetts) on Wednesday, November 9th from 6:30-8:30pm EST.

Alison Allen will be attending the 4th Annual International Astronomy Union (IAU) SHAW virtual meeting from November 15th-17th. She will be presenting a poster “Representations of Astronomy in Children’s Storybooks” with Dr. Julia Plummer (Pennsylvania State University). Poster presentations will take place online on Tuesday, November 15th at 12pm EST, Wednesday, November 16th at 6:30am EST, and November 17th at 7:30am EST.

Meet Julia Li at the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Traineeship (NRT) meeting in Blacksburg, VA from October 17th-19th.

Meet Adam Moylan at the US Department of Education’s Education Innovation and Research (EIR) Annual Project Directors and Evaluators Meeting held virtually from October 18th and 19th. This meeting is by invite only.

Jennifer Borland will be attending the Indiana Evaluators Association (IEA) Quarterly Meeting on Friday, October 21st.

Meet Us in September

Nicole Jarvis, Claire Quimby, Alison Allen, Kristin Bass, Camellia Sanford-Dolly, and David Wilmore are attending the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) Conference from September 12th-15th in Pittsburgh, PA.

Claire will be co-presenting “Working Together Towards Better Co-Creation” on Wednesday, September 14th at 3:30pm EST with partners from the Museum of Science Boston and Mad*Pow.

Nicole, Camellia, Alison and Kristin will be presenting posters during the Poster Palooza on Tuesday, September 13th from 2pm-3:15pm EST.

Scott Burg will be attending the 2022 Visitor Study Association (VSA) conference July 12th-14th in Omaha, Nebraska. The theme of the 34th annual conference is Creating Space & Coming Together.

Nisaa Kirtman, Jennifer Borland and Camellia Sanford-Dolly will be presenting at the virtual 21st Century Community Learning Centers summer symposium July 19th-21st. (More information to come)

NIH SciEd 2022

Kristin Bass and Alison Allen will be attending the NIH SciEd 2022 Annual Conference in Washington, DC on May 31st through June 3rd. Together, Kristin and Alison will be presenting at a concurrent breakout session called “Let’s party like it’s 2019! Broadening Participation through Data Parties on Wednesday, June 1st at 2:00 pm EST. In addition, Kristin will be co-presenting a concurrent breakout session with Renee Bayer “Professional Writing Groups: How to start and Maintain a Collaborative (and Fun) SciEd Writing Group to Support Project Dissemination on Thursday, June 2nd at 10:15 am EST. Alison will be co-presenting with Carmela Amato-Wierda and Amy Booth from the University of New Hampshire, “The NH CREATES Teachers Institute: A Model of Professional Development for Middle and High School STEM Teachers” on Thursday, June 2nd at 2:00 pm EST.
