NIH SciEd 2021 Virtual Conference
Meet Alex Gurn and Kristin Bass at the 2021 NIH SciEd Virtual Conference from May 24th-27th.
Kristin, served as a member of the SciEd Conference Organizing Committee and is a Strand Leader in the Science Teaching and Learning strand. As part of her leadership role she will be hosting an Informal Networking Session on Tuesday, May 25th at 4pm EST for the Science Teaching and Learning Strand. In addition, she will be facilitating two breakout session, the first on research design, ‘Strategies for Working with Research Comparison Groups‘ on Wednesday, May 26th at 12pm EST and the second on disseminating and communicating research findings, Avoid the Void – How to Effectively Disseminate Your Findings and Communicate with Your Audience on Thursday, May 27th at 4pm EST.
Alex will be presenting, ‘Strategies to Leverage the Expertise of Your Advisory Board,’ with STEM Escape Room project team members from the University of California Berkeley’s Museum of Paleontology on Wednesday, May 26th at 3pm EST. This session will explore project design considerations, team selection, engagement strategies, collaborative practices, and other factors that can enable or inhibit the effectiveness of advisory members to constructively inform the initiative.

2021 STEM for All Showcase
Meet REA team members at the 2021 STEM for All Video Showcase from May 11th-18th. This year’s theme is COVID, Equity, and Social Justice and will showcase 287 federally funded projects related to improving STEM and computer science education in K-12, higher ed, and in informal environments.
Claire Quimby and Jennifer Borland are presenting alongside the Bird Cam Labs team members from Cornell’s Lab of Ornithology as part a video titled “Bird Cams Lab: Democratizing Science Collaboration.”
Alex Gurn and Kristin Bass are presenting with Biotech Partners as part of a video titled “Conducting STEM Industry Internships Amid the Pandemic.”

2021 Citizen Science Association Conference
Camellia Sanford-Dolly will be attending the Citizen Science Association’s CitSciVirtual: Local, Global, Connected event in May 2021. A poster Camellia collaborated on entitled, “Macroinvertebrates.org: A Digital Tool for Supporting Identification Activities During Water Quality Biomonitoring Trainings” will be available to attendees from May 3rd-May 27th. Camellia will also be co-facilitating a two-part workshop, “Program Evaluation 101: Evaluation Basics and Logic Models”, on Tuesday, May 4th and Tuesday, May 11th from 1:30-3:00PM ET. Finally, Camellia will be co-facilitating a workshop, “‘Ask Me Anything’ Research and Evaluation Working Group: Surveys, Focus Groups, and Interviews” on Monday, May 17th from 3:00-4:30PM ET.
