Nisaa Kirtman will be attending and presenting at the 7th Annual CREA (Center for Culturally Responsive Evaluation & Assessment) Conference in Chicago, IL from October 3rd-6th. Nisaa will be presenting a session titled “A Tool for Reflective Practice Towards Equity and Accountability” with Cecilia Garibay of the Garibay Group. The session will present a tool and action-research work developed to support research and evaluation teams in reflective practice, decision-making, accountability toward more culturally-responsive and equitable practices, and improved community-level engagement and relationship with communities (particularly historically marginalized populations). Join Scott Burg, Camellia Sanford-Dolly, and Anna Jennerjohn from October 17th-20th at the virtual NAAEE Conference. The theme of the conference is “Together We Thrive.” Along with Heather Toomey-Zimmerman, Susan Land, and Lucy McClain, our team at REA will present an on-demand pre-recorded session entitled, “Engaging Rural Audiences: Enhancing Environmental Learning Experiences Through Technology.” The session includes an interview study with environmental educators, seeking to understand barriers to and strategies for engaging rural and BIPOC visitors with their sites, programming, and technology, and an observational study examining family conversations and engagement using mobile augmented reality at a rural nature center.
Camellia Sanford-Dolly, Jennifer Borland, and Anna Jennerjohn, along with our colleagues at Twin Cities Public Television, have pre-recorded a video showcase session, “Lessons Learned During the Iterative Development of a National Transmedia Family Program,” for the 2023 Connected Learning Summit, a virtual conference taking place from October 26th-28th. Camellia will be available to discuss the video on Thursday, October 26th from 330-430pm EST during the online conference meet-up.
