What is a Cooperative?: Reflecting on Our Three-Year Anniversary

Our collective reflections on what it means to be a cooperative.

In 2019, “Rockman et al” became “Rockman et al Cooperative, Inc.” which means we’re owned and operated by our members, who are also employees of the company.

Our clients can expect the same great relationships, flexibility and research, but now the researchers you are working with are also the owners of the company.

For our employees, this is a chance to share in the responsibilities and rewards of ownership, gaining valuable experience and participating in the profitability of the group through patronage.

When we asked our members what it meant to them, the most common response involved shared responsibility and decision making. The nature of cooperatives is more democratic governance, transparency and collaboration–all values we aspire to and promote in our work.
