Saul has over twenty years of experience in the research and evaluation of children's media, technology in education, and school reform. He is a leading national authority on educational technology policy and school reform. Over the past years Saul has worked in television production, and a regional education laboratory; his "last real job" was as manager of education research at Apple Computer. Saul did his doctoral work in Mass Communications at the University of Indiana, Bloomington.

Jennifer brings seven years of experience in the field of educational research and training to her work at ROCKMAN ET AL. She began her research career at the Center for Excellence in Education at Indiana University, researching technology's impact on new teachers and conducting an assessment of technology competencies for the U.S. Department of Defense. Since joining ROCKMAN ET AL in 1998, she has been involved in evaluating several Technology Innovation Challenge Grants as well as a handful of school-based and district-wide technology initiatives within Chicago. Jennifer received her M.A. from the Mass Communications program at Indiana University with an emphasis on research in educational technology; physiological responses to media stimuli, and human-computer interface design.

Cynthia Char, Ed.D.

Cynthia has over twenty years of experience in the research and development of educational media and curricula designed for children and families. She worked as a senior researcher and designer at Bank Street College's Center for Children and Technology, and at Education Development Center (EDC). Now the head of Char Associates, an educational consulting firm, she has worked on numerous projects with ROCKMAN ET AL. Her areas of expertise include interactive media, mathematics and science curricula, and collaborative partnerships between educational organizations. Cynthia received her Ed.D. in Human Development from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Nicole Cheslock, M.A.

Nicole's evaluation experience began in 1997 with a discretionary account management review initiative at Morgan Stanley. Since that time, she has honed her skills in the evaluation of education programs specifically informal education programming including science-based environmental education learning experiences. Nicole's areas of specialization include project management, qualitative data collection and analysis, and reporting. Nicole received her master's degree in Social Sciences from Stanford University's Graduate School of Education.

Lynn brings over fifteen years experience in the classroom and educational publishing to her current role as researcher. Before joining ROCKMAN ET AL, she wrote several books and articles exploring the implementation of technology in the classroom, presented nationally on assessment issues, and developed award-winning textbooks and CD-ROMs. Lynn has a B.A. in Music from UCLA and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of the Pacific (CA).

Jane specializes in program evaluation with a focus on federal grant projects. Prior to joining ROCKMAN ET AL, she was the Executive Director of the Reed Schools Foundation for ten years. She served two terms on a public elementary school board, and one term as a board member of an independent high school. She began her career as an elementary school teacher and received her master’s degree in Policy and Evaluation from Stanford University.

Carol is the President of Enright & Associates, a management consulting firm that specializes in management and leadership development, organizational effectiveness and change, and strategic human resource management. Carol works with ROCKMAN ET AL to develop strategy and infrastructure for organizational effectiveness and growth. In addition to over 20 years of "seasoning" in a myriad of business and non-profit venues, her credentials include an MBA from DePaul University and a BS in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana.

Beverly Farr recently joined Rockman Et Al as Director of Research. Prior to this, she worked for four years as Managing Research Director at the American Institutes for Research Palo Alto, California, where she directed major research projects on school reform, accountability systems, professional development programs, and teacher credentialing projects. Beverly also spent 15 years of her professional career evaluating or providing technical assistance to local, state or federal programs across 20 states as the director of federally-funded technical assistance centers. This work allowed her to capitalize on her expertise in effective instructional practices and comprehensive accountability systems. Her knowledge of second language development has also allowed her to focus a significant amount of her work on the needs of English language learners. Two of the books she has published focus on assessment and instructional practices designed to meet their needs.

Michelle has almost ten years of experience in the field of education and educational research. Prior to her work with ROCKMAN ET AL, Michelle was a high school teacher, with experience teaching elementary and middle school students as well. She specializes in adolescent literacy, and in curriculum and instruction. Michelle received her master's degree in Education from Grand Valley State University, Michigan.

Gloria has four years of experience in the management and design of research projects. This includes responsibility for data analysis and the drafting of reports. Prior to joining ROCKMAN ET AL, Gloria Hwang was Senior Research Analyst in the Management Consulting division of FIND/SVP. Gloria also managed public relations efforts for an architectural firm and worked as a journalist for the American Chamber of Commerce in Belgium. She graduated from James Madison University with a B.A. in Philosophy.

Knight-Williams has collaborated with ROCKMAN ET AL on the independent evaluation of several educational technology and media projects.

Candy has over four years of experience in educational research and data analysis. Prior to consulting with ROCKMAN ET AL, she spent four years working with one of the world’s leading non-profit education research organizations, the Education Development Center. While at the EDC, she evaluated the effects of preschool classroom environments, teacher-child interaction, and specific features of programs and families on children’s language, literacy and social development. She specializes in the use of statistical methods, specifically Hierarchical Linear Modeling, to analyze data for various education research and improvement projects. Candy received her master’s degree in Human Development and Psychology with an emphasis in research methods and statistics from Harvard University.

Cathy has over 25 years experience in the technology and education arena. At Indiana University she was manager of Instructional Computing and manager of Usability Consulting Services. She was Director of User Experience for a .com company that developed courseware for Internet delivery. Since 2000, she has worked independently as a Usability Consultant conducting both formative and summative studies for clients such as WebTV, the Kinsey Institute on Sex, Gender, and Reproduction, as well as several K-12 projects for ROCKMAN ET AL. Certified as a Human Factors Engineering Professional, Cathy's areas of specialization include user research and usability testing, human interface design, project management, study/instrument design, and qualitative data collection and analysis.back to top

David received his B.A. in Philosophy from Swarthmore College.
